According to sources, the Election static surveillance squad team in Gujarat arrested a student with an unlicensed weapon on Tuesday.
He was arrested for violating public order and various sections of the Arms Act.
Static surveillance team head and executive magistrate Himanshu Parmar stated in his complaint to the Nikol police station that his team intercepted a car at Thakkarnagar square. During the search, they discovered a pistol-like weapon under the driver’s seat. Kalp Pandya was driving the car, and when questioned, he admitted that the weapon was his.
When the police officers accompanying him asked for the weapon licence, Kalp told them he didn’t have one, according to Parmar. The weapon has a market value of around Rs 2 lakh.
Kalp was joined by two other teenagers and a middle-aged woman. All four are from the Manjalpur area of Vadodara and had come to Ahmedabad for personal reasons.
Nikol police received Kalp and his weapon from the static surveillance team.
