All India Radio organises the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Memorial Lecture in memory of India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, who was an epitome of simplicity, a renowned scholar, President of the Constituent Assembly, and a great visionary who had India and Indianness foremost in his mind.
Since 1969, the AIR lecture series in his memory has been an honoured tradition. Former President Dr. Shankardayal Sharma, former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, former Vice President M.Venkaiah Naidu, dozens of Indian literature like Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, Mahadevi Verma, and Harivansh Rai Bachchan are among those who have delivered this prestigious memorial lecture on wide-ranging subjects on India’s cultural ethos and strides in the past.
Every year on December 3, the recording of the lecture is broadcast across the entire network of All India Radio to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, India’s first President. The lecture series aims to assess the country’s political, cultural, and social environments. These lectures also provide a critical analysis of the country’s achievements and future prospects.
