In the wee hours of Wednesday, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 struck Nepal, killing at least six people. They were killed when a house in the Doti district collapsed. Five other people were injured and were taken to the hospital.
According to news agency ANI, tremors were also felt in New Delhi and neighbouring areas around 2 am..
Several houses were damaged as a result of the earthquake. Nepal Army personnel have been dispatched to the affected areas to assist with rescue efforts.
According to the National Centre for Seismology, the quake’s epicentre was 90 kilometres south-east of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand, bordering Nepal, and was 10 kilometres below the earth’s surface.
