The list of first 43 candidates announced on friday by opposition Congress for the Gujarat assembly, fielding Rajya sabha MP Amee Yagnik from the Ghatlodia constituency which is currently held by chief minister Bhupendra patel.
Nominated candidate from the Porbandar seat is Arjun Modhowadia senior leader and former MLA of the party. He had lost Porbandar seat to BJP’s Babu Bokhiriya in 2012 and 2017.
The party has chosen Mitesh Garasiya from Jhalod, instead of sitting MLA Bhavesh Katara. Gasariya was the Congress MLA from 2012-17. Out of 43 seats which congress has declared, the party currently holds onle one seat at Jhalod constituency in Dahod district.
The first list of candidates including Yagnik and has seven more women.
This time some former MLA aslo tried to get tickets.
For Sayjiganj seat of the city Vadodara congress leader Narendra Ravat’s wife Amee Ravat has been chosen. Bholabhai Gohel former MLA of Jasdan has been given party ticket again, he had joined the BJP in 2017 but he returned grand old party in 2018.
Kanubhai Kalsariya former MLA from Mahuva seat of Bhavnagar and senior party leader has been chosen again for the same seat. He lost to the BJP’s Raghav Makwana by nearly 5000 votes in 2017 which he contested independently.
Dhirubhai Bhil Former MLA has been given tickets for Sankheda seat, he lost this seat to BJP in 2017.
The first list has 10 patel or patidar faces, 11 tribals, 10 OBCs and 5 SCs.
