The Central Railway will resume service on the much-anticipated Neral-Matheran NG (narrow gauge) line on Saturday, October 22. The iconic stretch will reopen tomorrow after being closed for three years due to rain-damaged tracks since 2019.
Two trains will have six coaches, including one vistadome coach, on the upgraded 21-kilometer railway track between Neral and Matheran, while others will have five coaches with first- and second-class coaches.
Till now, the train service has been functional on the 2 km stretch between Aman Lodge and Matheran and have been a popular choice for commuters. The timings these trains have also revised by the Central Railway.
