Due to the air show, which is part of the Defence Expo 2022, Sabarmati Riverfront Road will be closed to vehicle traffic in the evenings until October 22. If you are a commuter who uses the road for work or any other reason, please read the advisory.
Throughout the air show, which runs from October 18 to 22, the Sarang and Surya Kiran teams will perform formations. However, rehearsals will begin on that day, October 15. As a result, from 3 to 7 p.m., the path will be closed to commuters on both the west and east sides of the riverfront.
In light of the air show, a Notice to Aviation Mission (NOTAM) has been issued to ensure that no air activity is permitted within a 20-kilometer radius of Ahmedabad airport.
During the exhibition, a breathtaking air show has been planned near the riverside, as well as a number of IAF teams doing performances. Four Indian-built Dhruv helicopters make up the Sarang squad, while the Surya Kiran team consists of nine BAe Hawk MkII planes, whose pilots will perform breath-taking maneuvers.
The riverside will be blocked from 3 to 7 p.m. because the air show will take place from Subhash Bridge to Vasna. The air show’s main draw will be rescue operations, where demonstrations of rescue from the ocean using boats will take place.
According to a senior police official, both sides of the riverside will be restricted to traffic because an exhibition of weapons and ammunition will be conducted on the east side and seating areas on the west.
During the morning and evening rush hours, the riverfront is extremely congested. Due to the upcoming air show, the route will be closed for the evening. During this time, the police officer advised people to take alternate routes.
