The video, which went viral in Surat, shows a boy between the ages of five and seven in the co-seat pilot’s wearing an aviation headset, holding the steering wheel, and being given take-off instructions by the main pilot on the runway. The plane is taxiing down the runway, and about to take off.
No passengers, not even air hostesses, are permitted to enter the cockpit without permission on commercial flights. In that case, even the smallest error by the child could have jeopardised his safety, as well as the safety of the co-pilot and passengers, if any.
There are also rumours that the boy in the cockpit comes from a political family. It is also reported that a complaint about the incident has been filed with the DGCA. These assertions could not be verified.
