Deepak Chahar is out of the T20 World Cup due to injury; Shardul Thakur will join the reserves

Team India’s injury woes continue as the Men in Blue have taken another body blow. Due to an injury, Deepak Chahar is probably going to miss the T20 World Cup in 2022, and Shardul Thakur will probably take his spot on India’s reserve list of players.

According to the most recent reports, Mohammed Shami is in the driver’s seat to replace Jasprit Bumrah in the main roster because the pacer will miss the major event due to injury. Mohammed Shami, Deepak Chahar, Shreyas Iyer, and Ravi Bishnoi were the players on India’s reserve list for the T20 World Cup 2022.

According to rumours, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and Shami are all getting ready to fly to Australia, with Shami reportedly in the lead to succeed Bumrah. Since Team India must select their 15-man roster prior to the deadline established by the ICC, the final squad list will be known by October 15.

As per multiple reports, the race to replace Bumrah will be between Shami, who recently recovered from Covid recently, and Siraj, who played in the ODI series against South Africa.

The choice will be made by captain Rohit Sharma and the management when the aforementioned trio lands in Australia. Shami, being the senior, is the front-runner in the race.

The fact that neither Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, nor Deepak Chahar will be ready for the World Cup due to injury is a significant setback for India.

Currently in Perth, Rohit and company are getting ready for the next challenge as they play Australia and New Zealand in two exhibition games before their crucial opening match against arch-rivals Pakistan at Melbourne on October 23.
