Users of liquefied petroleum gas, or LPG, will now have a rationing system for household gas cylinders due to rising pricing. A connection holder will only be permitted to use up to two cylinders per month and a maximum of 15 cylinders per year.
Domestic non-subsidized connection holders could previously get as many refills as they wanted, but the suppliers’ stance has shifted. The move follows complaints that domestic non-subsidised refills were being abused by users.
Under the new law, those registered under subsidized domestic gas, will be get only twelve cylinders in a year. In case of additional requirement they will have to take non-subsidized cylinder. According to the distributors, only two cylinders can be taken in a month under one connection and under no circumstances can the cap limit go higher.
According to Vipul Purohit, president of the Indane Distributors Association of Agra division, if a consumer has extra gas expenses, he or she will have to show proof of the extra requirement before the cap limit for users can be raised.
