The city will increase security during the Ganesh festival in addition to installing CCTV cameras by stationing one constable and one home guard on duty at all of the important pandals in Ahmedabad.
CCTV cameras will be installed in 481 pandals, including 210 in Ahmedabad West and 271 in Ahmedabad West, as a safety measure for the upcoming Ganeshotsav, which starts on Wednesday. Up to 7,279 police officers will be part of the bandobast to ensure that the celebration is held peacefully.
The police bandobast will consist of 7 DCPs, 14 ACPs, 50 PIs, 173 PSIs, 3,231 ASIs and head constables, 699 female police constables, and 3,105 home guards.
The majority of disputes between groups occur during a procession with DJs held for the installation and immersion of the Ganesh idols, according to Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Sanjay Srivastava. “Thus, we have decided to forbid DJs from playing throughout the parade. However, when there is a Ganesh idol in the pandal, DJs are permitted.” Sanjay Srivastava said.
Additional CP RV Asari, “All pandals that have been granted permission have been instructed to install CCTV cameras. Besides, 60% of the police force have been assigned duty to ensure that the festival passes off peacefully. We have made elaborate security arrangements to ensure that there is no untoward incident. One constable and one home guard will be present at all the big pandals.”
Now, proper preparations are being made for Ganesh immersions. Ganesh visarjan will take place at 44 locations, and 57 water ponds have been constructed to make idol immersion easier. There will be 14 Ganesh immersions in Ahmedabad East and 30 in Ahmedabad East.
