Gujarat ATS seized 1700 kg of Intermediate Chemical Powder 2-Amino-5-Chlorobenzophenone worth Rs 34 lakh from a warehouse in Morbi in another seizure.
The accused in the 225 kg mephedrone seizure from Nectar Chem of Savli in Vadodara provided information about the powder.
ATS officials said that arrested accused Mahesh Dhoraji and Dilip Vaghasiya came in contact with Piyush Patel and Mahesh Dhoraji at a chemical factory in Morbi.
“Here, under the garb of making pesticides they started making Alprazolam, a psychotropic substance. There is a seven stage process to make Alprazolam and the accused had already finished the first two stages, which resulted in making Intermediate Chemical.
“Based on this information, ATS searched the chemical factory premises and seized the powder used to make synthetic drugs. The samples have been sent to FSL for examination,” said ATS official.
