Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel unveiled the logo for the 36th National Games here on Friday, alongside the signing of an MoU (memorandum of understanding) between the Indian Olympic Association, the Gujarat Olympic Association, and the Gujarat government.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Statue of Unity and the Gir’s Asiatic lion can be seen in the logo of the National Games.
Harsh Sanghavi, Minister of Sports, Government of Gujarat, IOA Acting President Anil Khanaa, Rajeev Mehta, Secretary general IOA and Gujarat Olympic Association President Devendra Singh Solanki were also present at the event
The Games will take place from September 27 to October 10 in Gujarat. The various sporting events will be spread across the state covering 6 cities– Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar.
Over 7000 top sportsperson across the country will showcase their might in 36 disciplines including indoor and outdoor sports such as athletics, hockey, football, volleyball, lawn tennis, table tennis, judo, wrestling, kabaddi, kho-kho, mallakhambha and yogansana.
The last edition of the National Games was held in Kerala in 2015. The games are being held after a seven-year hiatus for a number of reasons, including the pandemic.
