Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh, and Gandhinagar, Gujarat on July 4, 2022.
As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the government is committed to recognizing and making people aware of the contributions of freedom fighters.
As part of the effort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick off the year-long commemoration of the legendary freedom fighter, Alluri Sitarama Raju, in Bhimavaram. In addition, the Prime Minister will unveil a 30-foot-tall bronze statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju.
Alluri Sitarama Raju, born on July 4, 1897, is remembered for his fight against the British to protect the interests of tribal communities in the Eastern Ghats region. He was the leader of the Rampa rebellion, which began in 1922. By the local people., he is known as “Manyam Veerudu” (Hero of the Jungle).
As part of the year-long celebration, the government has planned a number of initiatives. The birthplace of Alluri Sitarama Raju in Vizianagaram district and Chintapalli Police Station (to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Rampa Rebellion – the attack on this police station marked the start of the Rampa Rebellion) will be restored.
The government has also approved the construction of the Alluri Dhyana Mandir in Mogallu, which will include a statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju in Dhyana Mudra, depicting the freedom fighter’s life story through mural paintings and an AI-enabled interactive system.
At approximately 4:30 PM, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Digital India Week 2022 in Gandhinagar.
