Over 7,500 people will gather at the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad to commemorate International Yoga Day on June 21. The theme for this year is ‘Yoga for Humanity’.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a virtual address of the Yoga Day celebrations which will be broadcast live at all places at the same time.
At a meeting held by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, it was decided that this year’s Yoga Day will be celebrated at a total of 75 iconic places in Gujarat including Modhera Sun Temple and Ambaji Temple, 18 historical places including Dada Harini Vav and Dandi Smarak, 22 tourist spots including the desert of Kutch, 17 natural beauty sanctuaries including Mangarh Hill and Saputara Hill and at Science City, Principal Secretary to Sports, Youth & Cultural Activities Ashwini Kumar said as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
He stated that the state government intends to increase tourism in the state this year by combining yoga and tourism.
Yoga Day at the state level will be held at the Sabarmati Riverfront in the presence of the Chief Minister, Union Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad, and others.
Yoga Day will be celebrated at the district, taluka, and municipal levels, as well as in schools, ITIs, health centres, police stations, and jails throughout the state.
