With the arrival of the southwest monsoon, nearly every district in Gujarat has begun to receive rainfall in some or another form. While Ahmedabad experienced some dry spells on Wednesday, rain continued to fall in the Saurashtra and South Gujarat regions.
Isolated regions in the districts such as Amreli, Anand, Banaskantha, Bhavnagar, Gir-Somnath, Patan and Rajkot also witnessed rainfall. With a total of 79 mm of rainfall, Mangrol in Junagadh district recorded the highest amount of rain on Wednesday.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), major places in Gujarat such as Amreli, Jamnagar, Narmada, Porbandar, Rajkot, Surat and Surendranagar among other districts in South Gujarat and Saurashtra are expected to continue receiving rainfall till next Monday.
Apart from this, North region districts like Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Mehsana and Patan are likely to receive rains in their isolated regions.
Meanwhile, Ahmedabad was reported to be the hottest city in the state on Wednesday, with a maximum temperature of 39.7 degrees Celsius.
Notably, the monsoon has provided relief from high temperatures in Gujarat, with maximum temperatures falling below 40 degrees Celsius in all of the state’s districts on Wednesday.
