Four people were killed in two separate incidents in Gujarat’s Morbi district on Sunday as a result of heavy rain.
In the first incident, three members of a family died when the wall of their home in Sundaribhavani village collapsed after the downpour, the police said.
The deceased, a woman, her husband, and his brother, were sleeping when the accident occurred. They were killed on the spot. Their bodies have been sent to a morgue for examination.
In the second incident, a woman died after being struck by lightning in Jhikiyari village on Sunday evening.
Rain or thunderstorms were reported in 91 talukas in Gujarat in the 24 hours leading up to 6 a.m. on Monday.
The State Emergency Operations Centre said 11 talukas in districts like Mahisagar, Junagadh, Amreli, and Dahod received 25 millimetres to 75 millimetres of rain.
