Chitrax Bhatt, Frenaz Chipia won the Surat Table Tennis Tournament

Chitrax Bhatt, Frenaz Chipia won the Surat Table Tennis Tournament

The first Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis tournament in Surat ended on a high note on the final day. Filzah Kadri and Frenaz Chipia, both from Surat, reached the final of the women’s singles.

Frenaz won the women’s title 4-2 after a long battle with Filzah (11-4, 5-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-6).

Chitrax Bhatt of Ahmedabad won the men’s title by ending the fine run of Karanpal Jadeja of Bhavnagar, 4-1 (11-8, 11-9, 6-11, 11-3, 11-8). And Dhairya Parmar of Ahmedabad settled for the 3rd place defeating Shlok Bajaj of Surat in a hard-fought battle 3-2 (11-6, 11-7, 7-11, 5-11, 13-11). While Shlok Bajaj and Burhanuddin Malubhaiwala put up a show yet again in the junior (U-19) boys singles final, and Burhanuddin kept up his title 4-2 (1-11, 11-6, 4-11, 13-11, 11-3, 11-9).   

In the junior (U-19) girls singles, Surat’s 5th seed Arnee Parmar defeated the 7th seed Riya Jayswal of Bhavnagar to become the winner of the category, 4-2 (11-9, 6-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-5, 12-10).

In the junior boys (U-17) final, Armaan Shaikh won the title defeating Aayush Tanna, 4-1 (11-8, 11-6, 11-6, 8-11, 11-6). Daniya Godil won the Hope (U-11) girls title beating Khwaish Lotiain the finals 4-0 (11-9, 11-4, 11-7, 11-4). Pratha Pawar won in the junior girls singles (U-17) and sub-junior girls (U-15) singles title defeating Riya Jayswal 4-2 (10-12, 11-7, 12-10, 11-8, 9-11, 11-9) and and edging out Mouboni Chatterjee 4-2 (11-5, 11-4, 9-11, 11-5, 12-14, 11-7) respectively.

In the sub-junior (U-15) boys singles, Janmejay Patel settled for second place after giving a competition to Aayush Tanna who won the title, 4-3 (7-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-6, 4-11, 11-7, 11-8).
