Passengers flying from Mumbai will continue to pay the development fee (DF) until June 30, 2022.
As an interim measure, the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) has extended the levy of Rs 120 and Rs 720 per departing domestic and international passenger, respectively, from March 31, 2022, to June 30, 2022.
The regulator has also directed Airports Authority of India (AAI) to “examine all issues being raised by Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL)” on this subject by May 15.
AERA had approved charging a fee of Rs 100 and Rs 600 per departing domestic and international passenger, respectively, until April 2021, to cover a Rs 3,845 crore deficit in the capacity enhancement project at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
AERA had extended these two levies until March 31, 202 on MIAL’s request when Covid hit airport footfalls.
