As the temperature soar in the month of May, the commuters often find it difficult to wait for minutes to turn the signal green.
In a bid to provide relief from the long wait on the signal the traffic police department has decided that 60 traffic signals with less traffic will be closed for two days (Saturday and Sunday) from 1 pm to 4 pm in Ahmedabad city.
Traffic junctions like Income Tax crossroads, Iscon crossroads, Pakwan crossroads, Delhi Darwaza crossroads and Ellisbridge crossroads which see heavy and continuous traffic movement will remain open and continue to have signals.
Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Mayank Chavda said traffic cops and TRB jawans will oversee the traffic at junctions with less traffic movement where the signals will be closed to ensure smooth flow of vehicles.
“We have decided to close down 60% of traffic signals with a low vehicular movement for the next two days. We will further assess the situation and if necessary will extend it,” said Chavda.
