Several areas in Vadodara will experience four-hour power outages between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. from Wednesday to Saturday as part of a massive maintenance drive across the city by the Madhya Gujarat Vij Corporation Limited’s Vadodara division (MGVCL).
The “summer maintenance” operation had begun on Wednesday in the Akota and Sama areas. Power will be out in Vasna, Fatehgunj, and Gorwa on Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, the MGVCL will also perform maintenance on the remaining feeders in the Sama and Vasna areas.
The official said, “The local divisions of MGVCL in Vadodara city announce maintenance activity in summer. It is mandatory as the feeders are not serviced for a few months and we are approaching monsoon. This is a regular feature. Each sub-division has multiple feeders and all cannot be serviced in one go. Therefore, the activity is divided over a period of a few days… Since it is a power cut of four hours for maintenance activity only, it can be decided by the local officers.”
MGVCL officials stated that the utility has no power deficit and is experiencing no supply issues despite the increased demand in the summer.
According to a top official, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has been strategizing its future plan to deal with the coal deficit as well as increased power demand.
