Ravindra Jadeja has decided to step down as captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), handing over the leadership to Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
“MS Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game,” read the CSK statement.
CSK had one of their worst starts to a season, losing their first four games before winning their first game on April 12 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
And just when it looked like CSK would turn things around under Jadeja’s leadership, they lost two more games in their next three games to fall to ninth place in the points table.
However, following an extremely poor start to the IPL 2022 season, some critics questioned Jadeja’s leadership abilities. Meanwhile, it appears that Dhoni will lead the Yellow Army for the record-extending 13th time to save CSK’s integrity.

CSK fans and supporters were also surprised and delighted to see their leader, ‘Thala,’ return in IPL 2022.
CSK’s next game is on Sunday against former champion SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). The Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune will host Match 41.
