A group of students from Government Polytechnic final-year mechanical engineering, Ahmedabad created an air cooler (Quasi-ac Air Cooler) that chills the water on its own, allowing the machine to blow chilled air into the room.
The air cooler looks and functions like an air conditioner, but it only costs Rs 12,000.
The five-member crew of final-year college students that designed the equipment says the thought was to offer the expertise of an AC to low-income households who can not afford one.
The crew was guided by Jigisha Patel, a instructor of mechanical engineering on the polytechnic, and consisted of Akshat Patel, Jatin Bhuva, Kishan Chaudhari, Neel Chovatiya and Harin Chudasama.
“Low-income households can not afford an AC and often purchase air coolers. The issue with an air cooler is that it wants chilled water or folks put in ice in order that it blows cool air and may cool a room,” mentioned Akshat Patel.
He added that their design has an inbuilt system to sit back the water used within the cooler.
“We added a compressor refrigeration system to the air cooler so the water is chilled and the air blown is cooler,” Patel mentioned, including that the equipment prices round Rs 12,000. The cooler has a fan, a compressor, a condenser and an evaporator which permits it to sit back the water.
“It provides an expertise similar to an AC however it’s nonetheless reasonably priced to these with decrease incomes,” Patel mentioned.
