Major General Arvind Kapoor, NCC Directorate Gujarat, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu will hold a beach cleaning campaign at Madhavpur Beach in Porbandar.
This drive will take place on April 16, 2022, immediately following the conclusion of the Madhavpur Cultural Fair as part of the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan. It will be carried out by NCC HQ Jamnagar under the supervision of the NCC Directorate Gujarat, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu will do beach cleaning at the Beach.
Madhavpur is one of Gujarat’s most popular and treasured beaches, known for its long coastal route.
Dignitaries such as SDM Porbandar, SP Porbandar, representatives of Municipal Corporation Porbandar, and Sarpanch of adopted Village Dharampura will be gracing the drive with their presence at Madhavpur beach along with 200 Cadets, 05 Associate NCC Officers (ANOs), 10 PI Staff, 30 NCC Alumni members.
In conjunction with the drive, NCC is launching a nationwide campaign to clean up seashores and beaches of plastic and other litter, as well as educate the public on the importance of keeping these areas clean.
The Puneet Sagar Abhiyan seeks to spread the message of the ‘Importance of Clean Seashores/Beaches’ among the local community. The first phase of the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan 2022 was carried out grandly and enthusiastically by NCC Cadets from Gujarat between April 1 and 5, 2022, coinciding with National Maritime Day.
The waste collected by the cadets will be handed over to Municipal Corporation Porbandar for further disposal and recycling.
