Swiggy and EVIFY, a tech-enabled EV logistics platform, have teamed up in Surat, Gujarat, to assist the food delivery company go entirely electric and choose a more environmentally friendly delivery method. It intends to cover 80 percent of Surat’s core areas for last-mile deliveries.
The partnership is a green project aiming at preserving the environment by drastically lowering carbon emissions, and the transition to electric vehicles is a critical step in that direction. Swiggy’s fleet size is currently between 20 and 25, and it covers prime Surat locations.
EVIFY will also be in charge of backup electric vehicles. Swiggy has built up a charging centre in the heart of the city for charging and storing electric vehicles. At this centre, battery changing is also possible to provide electric vehicles more uptime.
Devrishi Arora, Founder of EVIFY, stated of the agreement, “Swiggy will be able to deliver better while also protecting the environment as a result of this alliance. The usage of electric vehicles for deliveries is predicted to cut delivery costs by up to 40%.”
Swiggy aims to cover 8 lakh kilometres a day in EVs by 2025 and cut down vehicle running costs by 40 percent.
Talking about this partnership, Vinay Kumar, Cluster Operation Head, Swiggy (Sales & Operations, Gujarat) said, “With EVIFY, we plan to deliver our food through Electric Vehicles and do our bit for the society”.
