The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has been issuing warnings of the heatwave in several parts of India.
On Thursday Kandla in Gujarat recorded 45 degrees Celsius, the highest maximum temperature while Barmer in Rajasthan recorded 44.9 degrees Celsius, the second hottest place in the country.
Over two dozen places across India, including two stations in Delhi, registered a maximum temperature of more than 41 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has further predicted a rise in maximum temperatures by about 2 degrees Celsius very likely over parts of northwest India during the next three days and no significant change, thereafter.
While heatwave conditions will stay in some parts of Madhya Pradesh during next five days with severe heatwave conditions in isolated pockets over West Madhya Pradesh on April 10 and 11.
IMD has also warned of heatwave conditions in some pockets over Himachal Pradesh and in isolated pockets over Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Bihar during next five days, over Jammu division on Friday, over Northern parts of Gujarat and Kutch till April 9 and over Vidarbha during April 9-11.
