The Meteorological Centre reported that the Kandla airport in the Kutch district recorded a maximum temperature of 45 degrees Celsius on Thursday, as heatwave conditions continued to grip areas of Gujarat.
Surendranagar (44.4°C), Bhuj (43.4°C), Keshod (43.7°C), Amreli (43.4°C), Deesa (43.4°C), Ahmedabad (43.2°C), Rajkot (43.1°C), and Gandhinagar (43.1°C) were among the places where the highest temperature above 40°C (43).
Heatwave conditions are expected to persist in many parts of the state until April 11, according to MeT officials, including Kutch, Banaskantha, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Patan, Porbandar, Rajkot, Surendranagar, and Amreli.
“Heat wave spell is likely to continue over Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, south Punjab, south Haryana-Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand during the next 5 days and over northern parts of Gujarat during the next 3 days,” the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, citing no respite from the heatwave conditions in the days ahead.
