Ahmedabad University (AU), a multi-disciplinary private institute, received Mark A in its first evaluation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
However, it has received some guidance in areas where the NAAC believes it should improve.
Ahmedabad University is known as the futuristic academic institute in Gujarat, and NAAC team appreciated the leadership of the university in its ‘Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Challenges’ (SWOC) analysis, and reminded the university to have more women at higher positions in the administration to make policy and application of ideas more inclusive, effective and acceptable to society.
The team, also noted in its report that the frequency of curriculum revision is low, the options for major and minor courses for undergraduate course and postgraduate course is less and a bridging link between UG and research is missing in some programs in absence of PG course in the area.
It is also advised to improve the quality of placement has to be improved for the benefit of students.
The university also stated that certain courses have been “over-commercialized,” and that the use of an arbitrary number of seats in admitting students to certain courses is surprising.
The institution is indifferent to national policies of yoga, meditation, NSS, and NCC, according to the committee, because students are not given the opportunity to participate in these activities. Lifestyle and current working styles with increasing screen time and persistent sitting posture, as well as a lack of physical activity for stakeholders, are some of the major concerns identified.
It stated that not only sports, students should also be taught yoga and meditation as a regular part of campus life, and the coding culture for students in the IT sector needs to be improved for better placements.
