A fire broke out at Samvedana hospital in Ahmedabad’s Memnagar district due a short circuit in an air conditioner of an emergency ward on Wednesday, according to an officer from the city’s fire and emergency services (AFES).
A fire was reported around 11:30 a.m., and the hospital staff called for help. Hospital staff rescued 18 patients before the AFES group of ten arrived.
The hospital staff escorted 15 OPD patients and three admitted patients out of the hospital stairs shortly after the fire alarm went off. Police officers also rushed to the hospital to help with crowd control.
