The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Gujarat has predicted that the temperature in Ahmedabad will likely reach 40℃ this week as the heat wave conditions gradually increasing across the country.
This comes after several parts of Saurashtra and Kutch experienced record-breaking heat on Sunday.
While the maximum temperature in Bhuj reached 40.2°C, it was around 40 degrees in Rajkot.
“Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions is expected in some parts of Saurashtra-Kutch and Konkan with heat wave conditions over Coastal Karnataka, Southwest Rajasthan and Gujarat region”, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD predicts that the maximum temperature in Gujarat will rise by 2-3°C in the next 4-5 days.
Meanwhile, the temperature in Ahmedabad reached 38.8°C on Sunday and is expected touch 40℃ this week
Notably, a heatwave warning is issued by the weather service when the temperature in any coastal region reaches 37 degrees and the deviation from normal is between 4.5 and 6.4 degrees.
