India to resume Scheduled international flights from March 27

The Civil Aviation Ministry on Tuesday announced that they have lifted the ban on international flights after two year.

According to the decision international flights which was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic, will resume from March 27.

“After having recognized the increased vaccination coverage across the globe and in consultation with the stakeholders, the Government of India has decided to resume scheduled commercial international passenger services to/from India from 27.03.2022, i.e. start of Summer Schedule 2022,” read a statement from the Civil Aviation Ministry.

The international operations, said the Aviation Ministry, will have to follow the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare guidelines for international travel.

“The international operations shall be subject to strict adherence to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare guidelines for international travel dated 10.02.2022 and as amended from time to time,” the statement added.

Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M. Scindia in a tweet said “After deliberation with stakeholders &keeping in view the decline in the #COVID19 caseload,we have decided to resume international travel from Mar 27 onwards.Air Bubble arrangements will also stand revoked thereafter.With this step,I’m confident the sector will reach new heights!”

Scheduled international passenger flights have been suspended in India since March 23, 2020 and only special passenger flights between India and 40 countries were operational since July 2020.
