A team of Bapunagar police and Abhayam 181 counsellors rescued a woman and her children who had been imprisoned by her husband. The cops had to scale the walls of the woman’s apartment to save her.
The woman insisted on attending her grandfather’s last rites, so her husband locked them up. According to reports, the husband allegedly threatened them with sharp objects.
On Sunday evening, Abhayam 181 received a call informing them of the woman’s and her children’s plight. Following the information, a team of Abhayam counsellors and Bapunagar cops arrived on the scene and asked her husband to open the door, but no response was received.
Meanwhile, the complainant begged for help from the balcony, and her husband turned off the lights in the house. The children became terrified and screamed.
With no other option left, the officers then scaled the walls of the apartment and entered the woman’s room through the balcony. A door which was locked from the outside was broken open.
They found the complainant’s husband sleeping in another room with a sharp weapon next to him. Her husband was allegedly furious that the woman’s family and that they were only concerned about her and not him. Therefore, he did not let her attend the last rites of her grandfather.
Meanwhile, the couple was taken to the police station by the counsellors and the cops.
In another incident, a 32-year-old woman was allegedly thrashed by her husband using a belt for refusing to have sex. The woman also said that her husband tortured her and abandoned her in January. Reportedly, a domestic violence complaint has been lodged against the husband who is a policeman in Patan, as per the reports.
The couple got married in 2014. But, she was harassed by in-laws as she did not bring any dowry with her. In 2019, she and her husband moved to Patan when got transferred.
The woman claimed in her complaint that her husband came to their house in the afternoon and asked for sex, which she declined because she was tired. After that, the complainant’s husband thrashed her with a belt until she became unconscious.
She also claimed that after being thrashed, her husband made her stand outside the house for the entire night. She was forced to leave the house the next day after gathering her belongings because her husband had locked the door.
