A metro train rolled onto the tracks of Ahmedabad’s western part for the first time on Friday night during a pre-trial run on a 2-kilometer stretch between the Gyaspur depot and Jivraj Park stations. Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation intends to conduct such trial runs on the entire track of the Phase 1 portion of the project in Ahmedabad in August.
After the pre-trial period, the Lucknow-based Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) will conduct trials.
The safety trials will be conducted after the RDSO certifies the track after which the free runs will be started. The authorities aim to have both east west and north south corridors ready by April 2022, informed the officials.
The Gyaspur-Jivraj Park stretch is about 2 km long and has 2 stations namely APMC Vasna station and Jivraj Park station, informed the officials. The Gyaspur-Jivraj Park stretch that connects APMS Vasna and Jivraj Park stations is a part of the 18 87 km north-south corridor from APMC Vasna to Motera
