The aorta (main artery) supplies blood to all the organs of the body, such as the brain, kidneys, and stomach. Even the smallest problem in the aorta can be life-threatening.
A similar incident happened with the patient Mr. Bahadur Singh. Mr. Bahadur Singh, age 64, was suffering from persistent cough and phlegm. Necessary examination and CT scan revealed that he had an aneurysm in the aorta and from which blood was leaking.
An aortic aneurysm is a serious condition, in which the wall of the aorta is weakened and swollen. If the aneurysm ruptures it can be fatal.
The patient came to the cardiac department of GCS Hospital after consulting several doctors for treatment. GCS Hospital’s team of full-time cardiologists Dr. Roopesh Singhal, Dr. Zeeshan Mansuri, and Dr. Jit Brahmbhatt investigated Further which revealed that the aneurysm was connected to an artery that carries blood to the left brain and left arm, which is very rare. There was also a risk of the obstructed blood supply to the left brain and paralysis of the left arm during this operation.
In addition, the patient was frail and had chronic liver disease making him not fit for such a major surgery. But the cardiac team at GCS Hospital offered a complex hybrid solution for benefit of the patient where the artery supplying to the left brain & left hand was surgically re-routed to the artery supplying to the right brain and right hand via a small 2-inch incision in the neck and then the aneurysm was covered percutaneously via a small incision in the leg.
The credit for the surgery and positive outcome goes to GCS Hospital’s Cardiac team, Cardiac Anesthetic Team, and ICU team. The patient was operated on under single anesthesia & discharged to home after 5 days. This complex plan was executed at GCS Hospital at very nominal rates helping the patient in need.
GCS Hospital has a state-of-the-art cath lab and cardiac operation theater with all heart-related treatments and facilities. With the best medical expertise, ultra-modern infrastructure, and facilities as well as the purpose of social service, GCS Hospital today is working to provide treatment to all types of people in the society at a nominal rate.
Besides, angiography, angioplasty, and surgery are also provided free of cost under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY Yojana.
