Covid-19 cases continue to fall in Gujarat with the daily cases falling below 1,300 after more than six weeks, and three districts recording zero cases.
According to the state health department data, the state reported 1,274 cases on Sunday, nearly 23% lower than the previous day’s tally of 1,646. Four hundred and five patients tested positive in Ahmedabad city, the highest in the state, but the lowest in the city this year.
Vadodara city reported 257 cases, followed by Vadodara rural with 79 cases and Surat rural with 58 cases. The tally was less than 50 in other districts, while Chhota Udepur, Bhavnagar rural, and Porbandar reported nil cases in the last 24 hours.
The Covid-19 related death toll went up to 10,808 with 13 more patients passing away. Four of the deaths were reported in Vadodara city, three in Ahmedabad city, two in Surat rural, and one in Rajkot rural, Gandhinagar city, Jamnagar rural, and Bhavnagar rural, the Covid-19 bulletin showed.
The number of active Covid-19 cases in the state declined to 14,211 from 15,972 a day earlier with 3,022 more patients recovering. So far, more than 11.90 lakh or 97.94% of the patients have recovered from the Coronavirus.
The cumulative vaccine coverage in the state touched 10.10 crore with just over 78,100 beneficiaries receiving the vaccine in the last 24 hours, the health department added.
