Continuing the downward trend, Covid-19 cases in Gujarat fell below 1,900 on Friday, the lowest in over five weeks.
According to the state health department, 1,883 cases were reported in the last 24 hours, nearly a quarter lower than the previous day’s tally of 2,275.
Ahmedabad city reported the highest number of Covid-19 cases at 618 as compared with 700 a day earlier. Vadodara city reported 282 cases, while the tally was below 100 in other cities and districts. Ahmedabad rural reported 15 more cases, while Botad reported zero cases.
The Covid-related death toll rose to 10,775 with 14 more patients succumbing in the last 24 hours. This was the lowest single-day death toll in many weeks. Vadodara city reported four deaths, the highest among all cities, followed by three in Ahmedabad city, two in Dahod, and one in Surat rural, Rajkot rural, Bharuch, Surendranagar, and Jamnagar rural.
With 5,005 more patients recovering, the number of recoveries rose to 11.83 lakh or 97.60%. The active Covid caseload in the state declined to 18,301 as against 21,437 a day earlier. The number of patients on ventilators was 105.
More than 2.06 lakh vaccines were administered in the last 24 hours to take the state’s cumulative vaccination coverage to 10.07 crore. As against an estimated 36.5 lakh beneficiaries in the 15-18 age group, 28.90 lakh have received one dose and 11.95 lakh both doses. More than 17.42 lakh beneficiaries have also received the precaution dose.
