Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) terminated duties of five sanitation workers (safai kamdar) at the solid waste management department on Wednesday for “misbehaviour”, “indiscipline” and “obstructing” civic body’s work.
According to a statement released by the AMC on Wednesday, the decision was made after a departmental investigation confirmed the allegations against five workers: Hitendrakumar Purshottam Makwana, Girishbhai Chhanabhai Solanki, Mukeshbhai Somabhai Makwana, Jagdishbhai Bhimjibhai Valodara, and Mahendrabhai Baldevbhai Dodiya
These workers were employed as solid waste management department helpers in Sarkhej, Jodhour and Maktampura ward.
According to the press release, these workers are accused of “using improper language over the phone” with AMC ward and zonal officials against safai kamdar transfer, as well as “misbehaving with AMC officials demanding safai kamdar transfer.”
