Gujarat added 14,781 more Covid-19 cases to its tally on Wednesday, but the number was more than 11% lower than the previous day.
The state had reported 16,608 cases on Tuesday as compared to 13,805 on Monday, 16,617 on Sunday, and 23,150 on Saturday. The state reported an all-time high of 24,485 Covid-19 cases in a single day on January 20.
As many as 5,248 persons tested positive for Covid-19 in Ahmedabad city, followed by 2,412 in Vadodara city. The Covid-19 tally declined below 1,000 in Rajkot city (944) and Surat city (834). Vadodara rural reported 604 more cases in the last 24 hours, and Gandhinagar city 544.
Mehsana, Surat rural, and Kutch reported 403, 394, and 312 cases respectively, while Anand (245), Bhavnagar city (233), Patan (230), Gandhinagar rural (202), Jamnagar city (201) and Kheda (200) reported 200 or more cases. Ahmedabad rural reported 77 more cases.
As per the state health department, 21 more Covid-19 patients passed away in the last 24 hours taking the state Covid-19 death toll to 10,323. Ahmedabad city continued to account for maximum deaths with nine more patients breathing their last. Three patients died in Surat city, and two each in Surat rural and Valsad. One death was reported in Vadodara city, Rajkot city, Vadodara rural, Jamnagar city, and Jamnagar rural.
The active caseload in the state fell from 1.34 lakh yesterday to 1.28 lakh today as more than 20,800 patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. More than 9.69 lakh patients have recovered from the virus so far. The number of patients on ventilator rose sharply from 255 to 303.
The Covid-19 vaccination in the state crossed 9.69 crore as 2.17 lakh more vaccine doses were administered today.
