Three police constables posted in the Gujarat’s Kutch district were suspended on Wednesday after a video of them enjoying music during a car journey while not following traffic rules as well as nobody, including the driver, was wearing face mask went viral.
According to an official press release, Kutch-East Superintendent of Police Mayur Patil took action against the constables for “indecent behaviour, violating traffic rules, and engaging in acts that affected the image of the police.”
“A viral video was brought to notice by media and several social media channels in which police personnel can be seen dancing on songs, while wearing police uniform, inside a four-wheeler., Such acts of breaking traffic laws while driving doesn’t suit a disciplined department and brings bad name to the police,” the statement said.
The suspended constables – Jagdish Solanki, Haresh Chaudhari and Raja Hiragar – were attached to Gandhidham ‘A’ division police station, it said.
Four constables were seen swaying to music and singing while driving a car in the video. Nobody, including the driver, was wearing a seatbelt or face mask.
The video was apparently shot on a mobile phone by one of the cops. It was unclear when this journey occurred. The fourth constable seen in the video has now been posted in the neighbouring Banaskantha district, and officials there have been asked to take the necessary action, according to the release.
