A woman and her son were hospitalized with serious symptoms of food poisoning after eating paneer bhurji with a dead mouse in it from Heena restaurant located near Dilli Darwaja area of the city. The condition of woman is critical.
The incident happened on Monday when Babulal Parmar (48) and his family, residents of Marwadi ni Chali at Nava Vadaj, ordered Paneer Bhurji from Heena Restaurant.
Babulal Parmar and his son Vishal were the first to eat the dish, followed by his wife Gauri and the other son Parthiv. They latter noticed something out of the ordinary about the vegetable. When they got a closer look at what appeared to be capsicum, they realised it was a dead mouse.
The woman and her young son Parthiv Parmar had started vomiting and feeling dizzy after consuming the dish. The mother and son were admitted to civil hospital.
The young son Parthiv later approached the police. A complaint was registered with the AMC additional health officer Dr Bhavin Joshi, who initiated a probe into the incident, following which the restaurant was raided.
The restaurant received two notices regarding unsanitary conditions and cleanliness. A sample of the product’s ingredients was taken and sent to a laboratory for testing. Fine of Rs 10,000 was imposed on the restaurant.
