Private NGOs, fire brigade and the animal helpline service of the state government have joind hands to rescue birds in distress during 14th and 15th January considering the festival of Uttarayan.
According to the preliminary information around 500 birds were injured in the city on the festival of Uttarayan. A NGO named Samvedana bird and animal helpline held a 2-day camp on 14th and 15th January for rescue and treatment of injured birds near Navyug school in Nava Naroda area. Around 12 doctors and over 85 volunteers volunteered in the 2-day camp. The rescue and treatment of over 155 birds was conducted by the NGO during the Uttarayan festival.
The Ahmedabad Fire Brigade has rescued a total 35 birds including 21 birds yesterday and 14 birds today. Total 132 birds were rescued by the animal helpline number 1962 of the state government in Ahmedabad city.
