In response to recent increase in COVID-19 and Omicron cases, a corporator has petitioned the Gujarat High Court to cancel the upcoming flower show. The flower show is set to start on January 8.
According to the petition, over 500 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Ahmedabad in the last four days. The petitioner has highlighted important public-interest facts. He is unsure whether COVID guidelines will be followed when 400 people visit the flower show in an hour and 4,500 people attend in the evening. In addition, more than 200 Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation employees will be present at the show.
“The flower show should be cancelled in light of the current cases of Covid-19 and Omicron,” said petitioner Rajshreeben Keshari .
“If it has been decided to accommodate only 50% of passengers in AMTS (Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service and Ahmedabad BRTS (Bus RapidTransport System), then what is the need for such a public programme?” he asked, questioning the government’s logic.
