In an effort to boost tourism, the Gujarat government announced a 20% reduction in value-added tax (VAT) on aviation turbine fuel (ATF), bringing the levy to 5%. In less than a month, the VAT on ATF has been reduced for the second time.
According to a state government release, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel made the decision to lower the VAT on jet fuel at a meeting.
“With a 20% reduction in the tax rate, the effective VAT on ATF in Gujarat will be 5%,” according to the press release.
The step has been taken to boost tourism in the state, according to the statement. On December 13, the Gujarat government reduced the VAT on jet fuel by 5%.
