Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) intends to setup Facade pixel lighting on the city’s cable-stayed bridge, similar to the lighting on Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa.
The tenders for this project were opened, and the proposal for tender approval was presented twice to the standing committee. The proposal was finally approved by the authorities. The cable-stayed bridge monitoring system will cost Rs 16.89 crores to install, and the unique lighting system will cost Rs 2.97 crores to install.
The bridge will be outfitted with lighting that uses Facade pixel technology. For lighting, this technology employs both fixed and dynamic technology. It comes in four different colours: RGBW (Red, Green, Blue, White).
This technology allows for the combination of various types. Around 16 lakh combinations are available with the technology. It will have the appearance of a brightly coloured wall. It will also allow for the creation of various effects for festivals and special occasions.
Unique Constructions will maintain it for 5 years and will train SMC’s technical staff to take over maintenance after that.
