The Out Patient Department at the (OPD) first All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) unit in Rajkot, Gujarat will be operational from December 31, with doctors from five departments accepting patients at the institute.
AIIMS director Shramdeep Sinha will inaugurate the OPD, where patients will be examined for a nominal fee of Rs 10.
Over 50 physicians competed for positions at the medical institute, with 17 selected for various departments at the AIIMS. Doctors serving as senior residents at PDU Civil Hospital and Medical College are among the 17 non-academic senior resident physicians currently on the AIIMS roster.
The admission fee at the AIIMS has been fixed at Rs 375 for a 10-day stay at the general ward. BPL card-holders will have free access to all the facilities offered at the institute, including treatment and surgery.
Along with this, a new pharmacy, named Amrut, will be set up in the AIIMS campus, where specialty drugs for cancer patients and cardiac patients will be available.
In addition, the government is also making arrangements to make implants available at cheaper rates. The store will be operated by HLL Lifecare.
The inauguration of the AIIMS in Saurashtra would provide patients with a treatment option closer to home, particularly for those suffering from cardiac disease, cancer, or neurosurgery.
With pandemic protocols in mind, limited physical appointments will be supplemented by online appointments, eliminating the inconvenience of crowding and queues at the hospice.
