The Gujarat government on Thursday extended COVID restrictions in the state until January 7 due to an increase in Omicron variant cases. Previously, the restrictions were in place until December 31. Rushikesh Mishra, the state’s health minister, made the announcement.
The news comes just a day after the state reported 19 new Omicron variant cases in four districts, bringing the total to 97. According to the health department report, ten of the new Omicron cases had a history of international travel, while nine had none.
COVID restrictions in Gujarat will be extended from December 31 to January 7, according to State Health Minister Rushikesh Patel.
