Gujarat reported 19 new cases of Omicron variant on Wednesday, bringing the state’s total to 97. Gujarat is one of 21 states where new variant cases have been reported.
According to Union Health Ministry data updated, India had 961 cases of the Omicron variant across 21 states and UTs as of yesterday, with 320 people recovering or migrating.
Delhi had the most cases (263), followed by Maharashtra (252), Gujarat (97)
Ahmedabad city reported 8 new cases of the new variant, followed by Surat (6), Vadodara (3) and Anand (2), the release said. With this, Ahmedabad city accounts for the highest number of such cases at 33.
Vadodara city has so far reported 21 Omicron cases, Surat (9), Anand district (8) and Kheda (6).
India registered as many as 13,154 new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the past 24 hours, taking the country’s tally to over 34.8 million.
While, 268 people succumbed to the coronavirus disease in the same period and the country’s death toll climbed to 480,860, the health ministry’s data showed.
India’s Active caseload currently stands at 82,402. The active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.24%.
143.83 cr vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive. The Recovery Rate of India is currently at 98.38%. 7,486 recoveries in the last 24 hours increases Total Recoveries to 3,42,58,778.
