In response to the increasing number of covid cases and the new variant, the Gujarat government recently extended its night curfew by two hours. According to the Gujarat Hotels and Restaurants Association (HRA), this extension will result in a 20% decrease in business for hotels and restaurants.
The curfew is now in effect from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., rather than the previous 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. Restaurant owners are concerned that if they close this early, their business will suffer a significant loss, especially at a time when people tend to go out late at night.
“People enjoy going out late at night to enjoy the weather and spend time with friends and family during the New Year and Christmas seasons. However, because of the new restrictions, businesses will be forced to close by 10 p.m. because their employees will be have to leave. This will reduce the number of customers and have a negative impact on the business “Gujarat’s HRA president, Narendra Somani, said:
Additionally, in the past, a lack of clarity on delivery timing has harmed the restaurant industry.
The government has not stated whether or not food deliveries will be permitted after the curfew times. The end of the year, which is a much-anticipated time for food business owners because people tend to get out, eat, and enjoy themselves with their loved ones, has turned into yet another boring month.
