In order to make the licensing process easier and faster, the Gujarat Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) will now grant license to manufacture ayurvedic medicines via an online system.
On Monday, as part of Good Governance Week celebrations, state health minister Rushikesh Patel launched the online license software for ayurvedic drugs and products in Mehsana. “Small and large ayurvedic medicine manufacturers will receive online license as well as a variety of other certificates as a result of this initiative (GMP and free sale). They will be able to pay application fees online as well “Dr. H G Koshia, commissioner of the Gujarat FDCA, stated.
Manufacturers will also be notified of the approval of their applications via email and SMS. According to the statement, they will also be able to print their license by scanning a QR code.
Previously, the state FDCA provided online license for allopathic drug manufacturing as well as retail and wholesale medicine sales. Gujarat currently has 875 ayurvedic medicine manufacturers who are licenced to produce over 1.25 lakh different ayurvedic products. The online system will make the issuance of license and certificates easier and faster, according to the company.
