A 21 year old Karishma Ratnu a Tragad resident, filed a Rs 1.97 lakh cheating lawsuit with Sabarmati Police. Ratnu said she was called by a woman who identified herself as a representative of a well-known health and wellness company on Thursday. The caller claimed to be from the sales and marketing department and that she had a great deal for Ratnu.
According to Ratnu, the caller identified herself as Twinkle and handed the device over to Abhay Yadav, her team leader.
As a gift, Yadav encouraged the alleged hacker to choose between an air conditioner, a refrigerator, a cell phone, and a laptop. According to Yadav, the company will immediately reimburse half of the money spent on purchasing goods. They then demanded that she provide information about the purchases she had made on the website. She gave them the details of their purchases, and they sent her a link, which she opened and discovered was for a different domain name.
She received a call from her bank shortly after, demanding Rs 54,907, which was deposited in the company’s account.
Ratnu contacted Twinkle, who assured her that the funds had been deducted and would be refunded within three hours.
She tried to contact Twinkle again, but the number had been disconnected, and she had not received a refund.
She called the bank and discovered that the company had received Rs 1.97 lakh in a series of transactions.
