Roll-out of 5G technologies to drive mobile gaming in India in 2022

With cutting-edge technologies now available in smartphones, India’s mobile gaming industry is one of the most rapidly growing segments. With the rollout of 5G technology in smartphones that are already 5G-enabled, the entire scenario is set to undergo a sea change.

According to the report, the pandemic has accelerated the organic growth of digital games, with mobile app downloads increasing by 50% and user engagement increasing by 20%.

With nearly 500 million smartphone users, India is currently the world’s second largest smartphone market after China. The opportunities in the gaming industry in India are enormous, and in the coming years, even aspiring gamers from tier 3 or 4 cities can rise to prominence with the right set of skills and efforts.

According to experts, the launch of the 5G data network will boost India’s mobile gaming sector even more. India is one of the world’s most important gaming markets among developing economies.

It is one of the most promising online gaming marketplaces, with over 75% of the population under the age of 45. The gaming community is expected to grow by several folds as developers focus on creating more women and child-led games, due to improved exposure and innovations in the field.

Due to the rapid increase in smartphone penetration in the country, Indian gaming has jumped on the mobile gaming bandwagon, with large console and PC games now being curated for mobile platforms. The sector is also attracting investments, with nearly $1 billion invested in the last six months.
